Sapsuk Camp:
The Sapsuk Camp is located 16 miles north-west of Nelson Lagoon on the banks of the Sapsuk River. Much like our camp on the Steelhead River, the Sapsuk Camp offers excellent accommodations and fishing opportunities. Access to this camp is only available via jet boat on the river. Travel time from town to the camp varies, but is usually a scenic 60 minute ride.
The River:
The Sapsuk River is easily one of the largest in the Nelson Lagoon area. The river provides plenty of room to explore and fish all week! In comparison to the Steelhead River, the Sapsuk provides a wider range of fishing possibilities and also offers anglers a bit more of a challenge.
The Fishing:
All fishing is done with our licensed guides on the Steelhead and Sapsuk Rivers. Both rivers offer an array of fishing possibilities and depending on the time of year, either river will be teeming with King, Silver, or Red Salmon. Steelhead and Rainbow trout also available. Conventional fishing gear and tackle is provided, but clients are welcome to bring their own fly fishing gear.

Boats and equipment:
To reach the Sapsuk River camp, Nelson Lagoon Adventures utilizes custom built 22 ft. jet-powered aluminum skiffs. These durable skiffs are operated by our USCG certified guides and are equipped with the latest safety gear and marine nav-aids. The Steelhead camp is only accessible by all-terrain vehicle. We utilize a variety of well maintained, modern ATV’s and UTV’s such as Honda Big Reds, and 420’s.
Tackle:
Nelson Lagoon Adventures provides clients with a basic selection of conventional cast and fly rods. An excellent selection of casting lures, flies, and fly-making materials are also available to clients as well. However, we do strongly recommend that clients bring their favorite gear with them.
Taking Fish Home:
Clients are welcome to take up to 50 lbs. of fish home with them (in accordance with local bag limits) at the end of their trip. Our staff provides vacuum seal packaging and wet-lock boxes for transporting your catch. Please note that King Salmon and Steelhead are strictly catch and release at this point, as we recognize the need to carefully preserve the resource.
